Hotel Los Frailes:
Hotel Los Frailes consist of eight luxury one or two bedroom air conditioned cabanas and a central dinning area/restaurant/bar located on a beautiful white sand beach with stunning views of Bahia de Los Frailes and the eastern most point of Baja. Hotel guests are primarily families and groups looking to get a way from it all in style. Typical stay is 3-5 nights. The restaurant/bar serves family style and is primarily for hotel guest, but also serves drop in visitors. Hotel Los Frailes is the only hotel on Baja's remote east cape. It is located within Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, which contains the northern most coral reef in Western North America. Activities include fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, mountain biking and hiking. The hotel is 30 miles (2 hours) northeast of Los Cabos International Airport.
General Job Description:
Hotel manager (individual or couple) responsible for management of day to day operations of the hotel and restaurant/bar, supervision of all hotel staff including training, hiring/termination and promotion, marketing, managing reservations and cashbox and financial record keeping. This position has 7/24/365 responsibility.
Reporting Structure:
Approximately 6-8 staff report to this position including restaurant Chef, and kitchen staff, housekeeping, gardeners, ground keeper and maintenance staff. Hotel Manager reports to the hotel owner who is resident on site;
Salary: Negotiable based on experience and skill level in the $20K-$30K range; includes room and board. Performance Bonus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Management of all hotel staff; 2 gardeners, 1 house keeper, 1 server, 2 cooks, 1 mechanic, 1 grounds keeper.
- Maintain hotel books and ledgers recording expenses, payroll and receipts with assistance of hotel owner and outside accountant. Handle cash receipts and cash box.
- Manage reservations; answer phones, respond to inquiries, take
reservations and deposits, maintain reservation calendar.
- Hotel Host; Greet guest and visitors, be available to answer questions and
responding to request.
- Marketing and outreach. Advertise and market the hotel via magazine and
Internet advertising to increase occupancy.
- Able and willing to perform any of the duties of the hotel staff when
needed. Able to pitch in and do what's needed to get the job done.
The ideal candidate(s) will have the following attributes:
- Would be a couple; without children at home.
- Computer literate experienced in Windows 98, Office, Word and Excel.
- Bi-lingual. English/Spanish.
- Non-smoking; non-drinking.
- An experienced and effective manager. Able to motivate employees and build teams.
- High integrity and honesty. Able to provide references of same.
- Organized, detail oriented and self directed. Able to prioritize task and accomplish goals with minimum supervision and direction.
- Positive outlook, easy going, not easily ruffled.
- Great people skills; warm, caring, outgoing.
- Prior experience with hotel maintenance, hotel management, restaurant management.
- Jack of all trades.
- Lived or worked in remote location or developing country.
- Looking to live in a remote location that offers few "city" amenities but
has ample outdoor and recreational opportunities.
